Spring has arrived! The sun is shining! A good time then, to bring you the first trailer for Drew Marvick’s enjoyable piece of slasher trash, Pool Party Massacre. Though just over half a minute long, it doesn’t skimp on the blood, giving a good taste of the micro-budget mayhem the film offers.
Paying tribute to the ‘80s slasher flicks beloved of its director while avoiding stepping into self-referential spoof territory or nostalgic imitation, Marvick’s film – which he also wrote, produced and appeared in – tells of a group of snobbish, entitled socialites whose pool party goes tits-up following the arrival of an unseen killer. It stars LeeAnna Vamp, Alexis Adams, Mark Justice and John Molinaro.
Light on plot but thick with bloody slaughter, Pool Party Massacre teased trashfiends last year with its beautiful, VHS-inspired poster; the work of Marc Schoenbach, founder of Sadist Art Designs. This trailer is the first footage released of the film.
Talking to Scream recently, Marvick joked that he might release his film on 4/20 to bring in the easily-pleased stoner crowd, and wouldn’t you know it, that’s exactly what he’s done, with DVDs, Blu-rays and VHS copies (naturally) of the film shipping from the film’s online store on April 20th, 2017! You can read my interview with Marvick later this year in the pages of Scream.
