FIRST “ANACONDA” TRAILER REBOOTS FRANCHISE WITH META COMEDY TWIST

Posted on: September 26th, 2025

“The movie they’re making, just became real…”

When it was announced that 1997’s cult classic Anaconda would be receiving the reboot treatment, fans were curious.

Given a cast including Paul Rudd, Jack Black, and Steve Zahn, many wondered if 2025’s Anaconda would incorporate some elements of comedy alongside the horror.

However, what we weren’t expecting was an all-out meta buddy comedy.

Yes, in an amusing instance of jumping the shark, the Anaconda franchise has switched genres, and gone full meta.

In the trailer, we see Black and Rudd devise a plan to raise funds to remake their favourite film, 1997’s Anaconda. Unable to secure the $2 million needed, they take a group of fellow fans to the Amazon, intent on making the film guerrilla-style.

When their anaconda stand-in dies in a tragic accident, the group decides to traverse the jungle looking for a replacement. Of course, they encounter a snake much bigger and more blood thirsty than they could’ve ever imagined.

The movie they’re dying to make may just kill them. However, will we die of laughter first?

Anaconda co-stars Thandiwe Newton, Daniela Melchior, and Ben Lawson. Tom Gormican writes and directs, whilst Brad Fuller and Andrew Form produce.

The film is scheduled to hit theatres on December 25th 2025, via Sony Pictures Releasing,

Will the Christmas release bring lots of good tidings? Or will audiences be turned off by such an extreme shift in tone and genre?

Time will tell, but we’re undeniably curious to find out. You can check out the bonkers first trailer below:
