Fede Alvarez (Evil Dead, Don’t Breathe) is writing and directing a new entry in the Alien franchise for 20th Century Studios, and it seems like production is soon to be underway! According to the Film & Television Industry Alliance, filming is slated to begin in Budapest on February 6th.
The film, which is shooting under the working title Alien: Romulus, is described as an “original standalone feature.” Cailee Spaeny (The Craft: Legacy) will star.
Ridley Scott, director of the 1979 original film, is producing Alien: Romulus under his Scott Free banner. There have been six films so far in the core franchise, with the most recent being 2017’s Alien: Covenant, which Scott returned to direct.
An Alien TV series is also in the works over at FX.
