Lizzy Caplan (Castle Rock) was previously announced as the female lead of Fatal Attraction, Paramount’s series adaptation of the 1987 film of the same name. She’ll be playing Alex, the role portrayed by Glenn Close in the movie.
Deadline now reports that the series has cast its male lead. Joshua Jackson (Dr. Death) has signed on to star as Dan Gallagher, the role originally played by Michael Douglas.
In the Adrian Lyne-directed film, a married man’s one-night stand comes back to haunt him when that lover begins to stalk him and his family. The series will “explore the timeless themes of marriage and infidelity through the lens of modern attitudes towards strong women, personality disorders, and coercive control.”
Alexandra Cummingham will serve as showrunner on Fatal Attraction and is co-writing the script with Kevin Hynes. The series will be heading to the Paramount+ streaming platform.
