“FACES OF DEATH” GETS POSITIVE RESPONSE FOLLOWING TEST SCREENING

Posted on: March 5th, 2024

Unbelievably, it’s been the better part of a year since we’ve had any updates on the remake of the controversial 1978 flick Faces of Death.

Last we heard, filming had wrapped in April 2023 and the film could be expected before the end of the year. However, nothing has materialised since, leading some to speculate if the project was in trouble.

Fear not, folks. Although it’s some rather small pieces of info, we do have some updates for you from a reliable source that confirms the film is still coming.

Firstly, Faces of Death screened for a test audience this past week in California, and from what we’re hearing, the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. The performances and the “current” story spin on the source material were singled out for praise particularly.

Furthermore, in a bid to stem leaks from the test screening, we were treated to an official synopsis for the film:
“A woman who moderates a YouTube-like platform, responsible for filtering out any content that is offensive or violent, comes across a group on the website that appears to be re-enacting the murders from the original film. However, given the digital age of widespread misinformation online, are these murders real or fake?”

That’s right, folks! Faces of Death is a very meta reboot, wherein the source material exists within the story. Interesting indeed!

With a cast including Dacre Montgomery, Charlie XCX, Josie Totah, and Jermaine Fowler, this Daniel Goldhaber-helmed flick might be one of 2024’s dark horses. We’ll be keeping a close eye should anything further drop, including an official release date.
