The makers of Evil Dead Rise weren’t about to miss the perfect chance to pay tribute to some badass ladies for International Woman’s Day.
The promo campaign for the upcoming fifth entry in the Sam Raimi created franchise grabbed the chance to hype up the female-centric film with a quick montage of new footage.
In the clip posted to the film’s official Twitter account, we see a variety of terrifying and bloody visages as a young family fight for survival against the forces of darkness. Perhaps most intriguing is the final clip the montage offers with a very bloody Lily Sullivan wielding a shotgun and aping Bruce Campbell’s iconic “come get some” line.
Eerily overlayed with Doris Day crooning Que Sera, Sera, the clip proclaims “Happy International Woman’s Day to all the strong women who put up with hell…” Promising plenty of demonic hijinks and make-up effects galore.
Evil Dead Rise is directed by Hole in the Ground’s Lee Cronin and will see Lily Sullivan’s Beth return home to visit her sister and kin. However, her sister isn’t quite herself and hell-on-earth invades the family apartment.
The core Evil Dead team of Sam Raimi, Robert Tappart and Bruce Campbell are onboard as producers and reportedly “very pleased” with the film Unfortunately, Campbell will not be reprising his role as Ash Williams, feeling the character has run its course.
Evil Dead Rise will release exclusively in theatres on April 21 2023.
