This month will see the release of the eagerly awaited Evil Dead Rise to theatres across the world. And currently it seems director Lee Cronin is dead set on carving out a path to being the next big name in horror cinema.
News comes this week that off the back of the excellent critical response to Evil Dead Rise, Cronin has been selected by New Line Cinema to helm their post-apocalyptic horror movie Thaw.
“Set years after the polar ice caps have melted and the sea levels have risen, the story centres on a group of survivors at sea searching for a new home. Their prayers are answered with the discovery of an inhabitable town; until, that is, they encounter a new nightmare living just below the water’s surface.”
Given the popularity of aquatic horror in recent years, Cronin stands every chance of scoring a hit with Thaw and securing his place as one of horrors hottest new talents.
Little is known about the film currently other than the plot synopsis. No production dates or casting announcements have been put forward, but we will follow this story closely and report any further developments. It is highly likely Thaw will be fast-tracked, should Evil Dead Rise perform well at the box-office.
