Over a year ago, we reported that Suitable Flesh star Heather Graham would be taking on the lead in a re-telling of 1982’s cult classic The Entity.
Based on the supposedly true haunting case of Doris Bither, both films follow a woman who is violently attacked by an unseen force.
At the time, we reported that the project would be titled Entity Within, as a loving nod to the 1982 film.
Now, just prior to the movie’s premiere at 2026’s Fantastic Fest, we can reveal the title has been changed to What Happened to Doris?
The movie takes us to Los Angeles in the mid-1970s. Doris is a working mother on the poverty line, whose difficult life is upended further when she falls victim to violent supernatural attacks. With her life in the balance, Doris seeks out a team of paranormal investigators before the presence can kill her.
Mimi Rogers, Morgan Peter Brown, and Kevin Keppy star alongside Graham, although their roles remain undisclosed.
Nick Simon of The Girl in the Photographs directs, from a script by Saw IV scribe Thomas Fenton. Steven Schneider produces, having previously served on notable supernatural horror films including Paranormal Activity and Insidious.
GVN Releasing will handle US distribution after What Happened to Doris debuts at the 2026 Fantastic Fest. The festival will run between September 17th to September 24th, with passes available now.
It is currently unknown if What Happened to Doris will have a full theatrical release, or if GVN will send the movie directly to streaming.
