Lionsgate is remaking the 2008 horror film The Strangers, and Ema Horvath (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, Like.Share.Follow) has joined the cast.
Madelaine Petsch (Riverdale), Froy Gutierrez (Hocus Pocus 2), and Gabe Basso (Super 8) will also star in the film, which marks the first of three new Strangers movies that Lionsgate has in the works. Renny Harlin (Deep Blue Sea) is directing, with Alan R. Cohen and Alan Freedland scripting.
According to Deadline, the remake “will follow Petsch’s character as she drives cross-country with her longtime boyfriend (Gutierrez) to begin a new life in the Pacific Northwest. When their car breaks down in Oregon, they’re forced to spend the night in a secluded Airbnb, where they are terrorized from dusk till dawn by three masked strangers.”
Production is currently underway in Slovakia.
