Three years after Elisabeth Moss took on The Invisible Man, she is about to tackle the terrors of the beauty industry with the announcement she will star in psychological thriller Shell, opposite Kate Hudson.
Moss will play struggling actress Samantha, whose life and career take quite the upswing when she’s offered a free trial for some Shell Beauty products. She begins a friendship with Shell CEO Zoe Shannon (Kate Hudson,) but is alarmed when other Shell Beauty users begin to go missing.
Shell is set to be directed by Max Minghella of The Handmaid’s Tale, from a script by Jack Stanley and is described as ““set in a near future when humanity’s cultural obsession with youth and beauty has been taken to new extremes.”
Of her casting and the film, Moss had the following to say:
“This is one of the most unique, entertaining, and special scripts I’ve ever read and I am so honored to be a part of it as an actor and flattered that Max came to me with this character, who’s unlike anyone I’ve ever played before. Having worked with Max for years on The Handmaid’s Tale, I’m so thrilled to now be directed by him as I’m a huge fan of his as a filmmaker. We at Love & Squalor are also excited to be working alongside Automatik and Black Bear, two companies we very much admire.”
Few other details are known about the project besides the involvement of Moss and Hudson, but we will bring any further developments on Shell to you as soon as they become available.
