It’s almost time for Thanksgiving, perhaps the biggest holiday in the American calendar. However, what genre fans are much more excited about this year is the slasher film of the same name coming from horror master Eli Roth.
To that end, we are thrilled to see the film’s final poster debut as the November 17th release looms.
Clearly taking a cue or two from the most recent Scream releases, the poster appears almost identical to the cast posters for those.
We see most of our primary cast, including Addison Rae, Milo Manheim, and Patrick Dempsey all arranged in suitably suspicious looking poses. Looming over them is the already-iconic pilgrim, known as John Carver, with his trusty axe at the ready.
Given its similarity to the Scream marketing material, we can safely assume that Lionsgate too are daring us to guess the killer’s identity from this final poster. Who do you think is the most likely suspect to carve up everything but the turkey?
Creator Eli Roth has high hopes for the project, previously stating that he longs to mirror his experiences seeing whodunnit slashers in theatres. Roth, with palpable enthusiasm, stated the following about his first whodunnit slasher offering:
“Growing up, I dreamed of writing a slasher movie that would be like Scream or Halloween. One of these “guessing who the killer is,” that’s incredibly scary, but also fun… with fantastic kills. And… this is it!”
Thanksgiving opens Friday November 17th at theatres everywhere, and already looks poised to become the ultimate Turkey Day slasher, suitable for a yearly viewing.
