We’re always intrigued to hear what the co-creator of The Blair Witch Project is up to, and according to THR he is developing a new series for Starz. The show is a supernatural drama titled Santeria and will follow two undercover agents as they investigate a murder. The investigation leads them to explore the relationship between the Cuban people and the ancient religion, Santeria.
Since directing the ground-breaking The Blair Witch Project Sanchez has directed a handful of films including Seventh Moon and Lovely Molly, as well as episodes of Intruders and From Dusk Till Dawn. Working alongside him on Santeria will be a writer-director from From Dusk Till Dawn Alejandro Brujes (Juan of the Dead, The ABCs of Death 2), who will be an executive producer.
Sanchez’s long-term collaborator Gregg Hale will also be involved with the project; he and Sanchez co-created Blair Witch, Lovely Molly and a segment in the VHS anthology. They’ve been working together for almost 20 years and have brought some truly inventive horror features to the big screen, so Santeria is definitely something to get excited about.
Keep your eyes peeled for an air date, we expect it to be some time next year.
