Hot on the heels of his recent appearance in Pet, one of my personal favourite genre movies of last year, Dominic Monaghan is all set to star in Syfy Films’ upcoming sci-fi thriller Atomica (which you may have previously heard referred to as Deep Burial and/or Half-Life).
Helmed by Dagen Merrill (Beneath, Broken Hill, Murder in the Dark) and penned by Kevin Burke (Ultimate Spider-Man, Marvel’s Avengers Assemble, Beneath), Fred Fernandez-Armesto and Adam Gyngell, Atomica sees communications go offline at a remote nuclear power plant isolated in the desert and a young safety inspector, Abby Dixon, is forced to fly out to bring them back online. Once inside the facility, mysterious clues and strange behavior cause Abby to have doubts about the sanity and, perhaps, identities of the two employees onsite.
Monaghan’s supporting cast includes Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan, Black Hawk Down) and Sarah Habel (Hostel: Part III, USA Network’s “Rush”) with the film slated to launch in cinemas from March 17, 2017 ahead of a March 21 VOD and Digital HD release.
Whilst no trailer has been released just yet, be sure to visit the official Facebook page for further details on the film.
