Following its world premiere at the Irish Film Institute Horrorthon last October, rural nightmare The Devil’s Woods is set to hit DVD and VOD on May 10th. In the meantime, you can check out this rather awesome trailer.
The film takes elements of ‘70s American off-the-beaten-track horror, transposes them to an Irish countryside setting and gives them a British folk-horror makeover. Think The Last House on the Left by way of The Wicker Man, in Ireland.
The Devil’s Woods marks the feature debut of director Anthony White (Shortcuts to Hell: Vol. 1), and stars The Hallow’s Stephen Cromwell, Daniel Mahony (Shortcuts to Hell), Eoin Quinn (Portrait of a Zombie) and fresh blood Danielle Keaney and Roxanne Josephine.
A group of friends trying to repair their strained relationships decide to spend the weekend camping at a music festival. On route they stop off at a small town in the middle of rural Ireland. However, this seemingly idyllic country town is darkened by a history of strange events. Can a town that is inherently evil literally tear them apart? Can they survive…. The Devil’s Woods.
