I do love a good horror anthology, but it’s such a difficult sub-genre to get right. Frequently there are fantastic segments in horror anthologies, but others fall short and ruin the films’ overall enjoyment. Others have great trailers that promise unique frights and delights, but fail to have the impact promised. I’m looking at Holidays over here.
A new deadly anthology is on the way from 4 killer directors and they’re all women – excellent! – and, from the trailer, the segments look intriguing, mysterious and seriously freaky. Check it out below. It’s atmospheric, jumpy and features a brilliant tease of every segment; all of which look extremely different from the last.
The segments will be titled The Birthday Party, The Box, The Only Living Son and The Fall; and they will each be directed by Annie Clark AKA St. Vincent, Jovanka Vuckovic (How We Die), Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation) and Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound).
The XX will be released on VOD on 17th February 2017.
