Dead of Summer is Dead After One Season

Posted on: November 10th, 2016

Freeform’s slasher series Dead of Summer has been cancelled after the first season. It’s always sad to see a show come to an end so soon, but many have criticised the show’s slow beginning, with the show failing to grip until the middle of the season. If you want to succeed with television you really need to hook your audience as quickly as possible, because there’s so many other great series’ out there dying to be watched.

Dead of Summer 1Dead of Summer followed a set of camp counsellors at Camp Clearwater who awaken an ancient, murderous mythology. It seems homages to Friday the 13th and other slasher greats are not enough to secure your audience, because Dead of Summer is now dead in the water.

Dead of Summer was from the creators of Once Upon a Time and writer Ian Goldberg, but now joins Freeform’s other series Guilt, which has also just been cancelled.
