SYFY has ordered a 10-episode series based on George A. Romero’s 1985 classic Day of the Dead, and Steven Kostanski (The Void) will direct the first four episodes.
Kostanski will also executive produce the series, which was written and will be showrun by Jed Elinoff and Scott Thomas. The cast includes Keenan Tracey (Polaroid), Daniel Doheny (The Package), Natalie Malaika (The Color Rose), Morgan Holmstrom (I Still See You), and Kristy Dinsmore (Vikings).
In the original film, a small group of military officers and scientists dwell in an underground bunker as the world above is overrun by zombies. The series will follow six strangers trying to survive the first 24 hours of an undead invasion.
