DAVID DUCHOVNY CONFIRMS “TALKS” OVER “X-FILES” REBOOT

Posted on: April 22nd, 2026

Things are definitely heating up over at Hulu, as we have another exciting nugget regarding Ryan Coogler’s X-Files reboot.

As we know, Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel have been confirmed to lead the reboot from the Sinners filmmaker.

Recently, original series star Gillian Anderson confirmed that she’d had “discussions” with Coogler about reprising her role as Dana Scully. Understandably, this was greeted with a great deal of excitement from X-Files fans.

With Anderson entertaining the idea of a return, the focus then shifted to her former co-star David Duchovny, and if he’d reprise his role as Fox Mulder.

Now, Duchovny has addressed the developing reboot in a recent interview, confirming he’s had “talks” about an X-Files return:
“There have been talks about certain things, but there’s nothing concrete at this point. I’ve spoken to Ryan, and I have a general sense of what it is, but I haven’t read the script.”

Before fans got their hopes up too high, Duchovny was quick to add:
“I don’t know what the world of his show is. I don’t know if my character exists in that show. It’s all hypothetical to me, so I can’t really address it yet.”

So, it seems Duchovny isn’t saying yes or no to an X-Files return, and has not read the pilot script, as opposed to Anderson.

However, Duchovny could be playing coy, and a lot more could’ve happened behind the scenes than he’s letting on. So, we’ll just have to wait and see If any further return news emerges regarding this reboot.

The show is expected to begin production soon, but no release date is currently in place.

We’ll be watching this project closely and be sure to bring you any further updates.
