Shudder has teamed up with production company Shaftesbury to create a new eight-episode instalment of the popular Canadian horror anthology series Slasher—and legendary horror director David Cronenberg (The Fly, Dead Ringers, Videodrome) will star!
Called Slasher: Flesh & Blood, the new series will follow a wealthy but dysfunctional family gathering for a reunion on a secluded island. Their old wounds and competitive rivalries flare up when the family realises a masked killer is on the island, intent on cruelly picking them off one by one.
As with the past instalments of the series, Slasher: Flesh & Blood will combine elements of traditional murder mystery with the intense horror and bold kills that audiences have come to expect. Previous cast members Paula Brancati, Jefferson Brown, Patrice Goodman, Sabrina Grdevich, and Christopher Jacot will return in new roles. In addition to Cronenberg, new cast members include Rachael Crawford (Possessor), Jeananne Goosen (The Walking Dead), Sydney Meyer (V-Wars), and Alex Ozerov (The Americans).
“Slasher is clever, bloody, scary and fun, and adding David Cronenberg to the mix will take this new instalment of the series to the next level,” Craig Engler, Shudder’s general manager, said in a statement. “We couldn’t be more excited to work with Aaron Martin and the team over at Shaftesbury to bring the Slasher: Flesh and Blood to Shudder members.”
Slasher: Flesh & Blood will stream exclusively on Shudder in the US, Australia, and New Zealand in 2021. It will also stream on the platform in Canada, the UK, and Ireland following linear premieres in those countries.
Production is currently underway in Ontario.
