“I go poopy!”
He was the unexpected villain of the 2000 original, so we’re thrilled to learn that actor Dave Sheridan will return as Officer Doofy in the upcoming Scary Movie 6.
The news comes two weeks after it was announced that filmmaking team The Wayans Brothers would return to helm the project. The brothers had previously been responsible for the first two entries in the iconic spoof series, before departing in 2002.
With Sheridan confirming his return, we also have our first concrete plot details on the project.
The sixth entry will act as a parody of horror movie legacy sequels, and see Sheridan return as the main antagonist. This confirms what many have expected since the project’s announcement, that the resultant movie would be lampooning the likes of 2018’s Halloween, 2022’s Scream, and 2022’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Amidst these exciting developments, actress Regina Hall has finally broken her silence and addressed the fans clamouring for her return to the series. As Brenda Meeks, Hall starred in four of the five flicks, appearing alongside Anna Faris as protagonist Cindy Campbell.
Quickly becoming a fan favourite for her sharp tongue and uncanny inability to stay dead, Hall had the following to say regarding a return:
“I’m just very excited to know that the Wayans, who actually started the project out of their idea, are back on board and at the helm again. I’m excited for them. We’ll see if Brenda is in this new world. I’m thrilled at the possibility that the band could get back together again. That would be fun.”
So, whilst making no promises, it seems Hall is more than willing to return if the offer were to arise.
With Sheridan on board, and two other legacy cast members quietly circling the project, it appears things are rapidly coming together for Scary Movie 6.
We’ll watch this one closely and report any further developments.
