After years of delays and setbacks, a new incarnation of Eric Draven is finally on its way, with Sony Pictures having set a date for their remake/reboot of 1994’s goth revenge favourite The Crow.
The official release date for the film has been announced as October 11th, 2019. The Hallow director Corin Hardy – who was hired, dropped and rehired as original producer Relativity Media fumbled their handling of the project – will begin pre-production after work is finished on his current high-profile gig, The Conjuring spinoff The Nun.
The film, currently titled The Crow Reborn, will see Game of Thrones hulk Jason Momoa playing undead rockstar Eric Draven, a character made iconic by Brandon Lee in the original film. We are told to expect a more faithful retelling of James O’Barr’s graphic novel than the original, with O’Barr himself involved in the reboot. O’Barr told ScreenGeek last year: “I’m involved in every aspect of the film and working closely with the director.”
