“Hello, Gale… Strange that you and I have never spoken on the phone…”
According to official sources, actress Courteney Cox is “in talks” to reprise her role of Gale Weathers in the upcoming slasher flick Scream 7.
This will mark Cox’s seventh turn in the franchise, making her the only “legacy” cast member to appear in every Scream film.
This latest development marks another positive turn for the previously turbulent Scream 7. Previously, the project had been burdened with the firing of one star and the departure of another. Shortly afterward, appointed director Christopher Landon also left the project.
However, things have been looking up in recent weeks, with Neve Campbell announcing her return as Sidney Prescott, alongside series creator Kevin Williamson taking on the director duties.
With the project reportedly eyeing a late-summer or early fall shoot, casting is underway and more official announcements are expected soon.
Interestingly, the news of Cox’s negotiations come just one week after a reliable source told us that the actress was already locked in. According to our source, Cox and actor Patrick Dempsey were immediately sought following Campbell’s signing some time ago. However, to maintain excitement and build momentum for the project, it is understandable that the official announcements will be slowly let out.
Scream 7 is expected in 2025, with no official release date currently in place. We will let you know as soon as that changes.
