With the film having now been picked up for North American distribution by ITN, this brand spanking new artwork has been released for Tom Nagel’s Clowntown, which hits US screens at the end of September.
Director Nagel’s feature debut, Clowntown was written by Jeff Miller, who previously wrote 1999’s Hellblock 13 and the following year’s Head Cheerleader Dead Cheerleader, which he also directed. He based the story very loosely on a bizarre news item from 2014 about a bunch of people dressed as clowns who began wandering the streets of Wasco, California at night for reasons unknown.
In Clowntown, a group of young friends find themselves stranded in an apparently abandoned town where they begin to fall prey to a gang of psychos dressed as clowns. It stars Brian Nagel, Lauren Elise (Help), Andrew Staton (Relentless), Katie Keene (Union Furnace), Jeff Denton (The Beast of Bray Road) and Greg Violand (Batman v. Superman).
Clowntown will land in selected US cinemas on September 30th before a VOD and home video release on October 4th. It is out now on UK DVD courtesy of Matchbox Films, who are steadily building an impressive catalogue of indie horror.
