Newt was a mere child when she featured in Aliens back in 1986, but in Neil Blomkamp’s Alien sequel she’s a badass 27-year old. You can see the concept art for her new, older character below which sees her having ditched the long hair and looking as though she means business.
There has been no real confirmation of what route Alien 5 is going to take, but if Michael Biehn (Corporal Hicks – Aliens) is to be believed, Ripley’s (Signourney Weaver) torch as the heroine is going to be passed to Newt. He recently said, “They’re planning on bringing me and Newt back and at this point Newt will be around twenty-seven years old. I know that every actress in Hollywood is going to want to play this one.” It has also been suggested that the film would be an alternate sequel to Aliens, so it would then make sense to see Biehn’s character alive. He died at the beginning of Alien 3, remember?
Obviously, Sigourney Weaver can’t play the heroine forever, but who exactly would you cast as Newt? Personally, I think Juno Temple (Killer Joe, Sin City: A Dame To Kill For) would be an interesting choice for the role, but what do I know? Thoughts on a postcard, please.
