As the Paramount-Warner Bros. merger begins to take effect in Hollywood, several projects are shuffling their release dates.
Hence, the upcoming Conjuring spin-off sequel The Revenge of La Llorona has been pushed forward.
Initially set to debut on April 9th 2027, Revenge has been moved up six weeks, and will now hit screens February 27th.
Filmmaker Santiago Menghini directs the sequel, having previously helmed the genre film No One Gets Out Alive.
Sean Tretta, a regular scribe in the horror genre, has undertaken script duties on the sequel, with James Wan and Gary Dauberman producing.
Actress Monica Raymund, best known for small-screen roles in Chicago Fire and The Good Wife, will head the cast. Alongside Raymund, Hostel star Jay Hernandez and prolific character actor Raymond Cruz will also star.
The movie will continue the legend of La Llorona, a spirit also known as “The Weeping Woman.” This time around, she once again targets a fracturing family who must pull together to save the souls of their children.
2019’s The Curse of La Llorona was a hit for The Conjuring universe, grossing over $100 million on a micro-budget of $9 million.
Will the sequel see similar success? Or has it been too long since the first outing?
