A host of oddball comedy heroes are coming together to star in Corpse Tub, a frankly awesome-sounding black comedy about a couple who find their new apartment the site of a ritualistic suicide hotspot.
Heading up the cast are The Big Bang Theory’s Kate Micucci (pictured above), Sam Huntington (Detroit Rock City, Fanboys) and Rick and Morty’s Dan Harmon. Joining them are What We Do in the Shadows director/star Taika Waititi, metal-lovin’ comedian Brian Posehn, The Greasy Strangler’s Michael St. Michaels and Arrested Development’s Maria Bamford. And the list goes on, with Mark McKinney, Rhea Seehorn, Dana Gould, Josh Brener, J Lee, Brian Girard, Lilan Bowden, Jon Dore, Mindy Sterling, Craig Cackowski, Britney Young, Ryan Simpkins and Ron Lynch all having signed up.
Synopsis:
It follows a young Midwestern couple (Micucci, Huntington) who take a chance on moving to L.A. when they find an apartment with impossibly low rent. It’s soon revealed that the former occupant was an enigmatic cult leader (Waititi) who ended his life in the claw-foot bathtub. Now, a steady stream of his eccentric cult members break into the apartment to kill themselves in the tub in honor of their leader. Unable to afford another move, they soon find themselves inexplicably drawn into the cult, all the while navigating the inquiries of a beleaguered LAPD detective (Harmon) obsessed with selling a screenplay based on his own life.
Vivieno Caldinelli (This Hour Has 22 Minutes) is directing from a script by Christopher Hewitson, Justin Jones, and Clayton Hewitson. Elijah Wood, Daniel Noah, Josh C. Waller, Lisa Whalen, Michael Moran, and Pat McErlean will produce. No word yet on what stage production is at but I’m saying this now; this one’s gonna be fucking ace.
