Stay out of the water! A remake of Anaconda is currently in the works over at Columbia Pictures.
The original movie, which starred Jennifer Lopez, Ice Cube, Jon Voigt, and Owen Wilson, saw a film crew taken hostage by a hunter looking to capture the world’s largest snake. Columbia has tapped Evan Daugherty (Snow White and the Huntsman) to write the remake, which promises a new, modern, big-budget take on the story in the vein of The Meg.
Since its release in 1997, Anaconda has risen to cult status and spawned three sequels of, uh, questionable quality. This will be the first film in the franchise since 2015, when audiences were treated to a made-for-TV crossover with the Lake Placid franchise.
