It’s that time again, folks!

In the absence of any official announcements regarding Scream 7, we’ve been keeping our ear to the ground constantly. Now, we have a couple of exciting casting rumours from a very reliable source.

Keri Russell, best known for her roles in Felicity, and Universal’s recent hit Cocaine Bear, is said to be “in talks” to join the project. Russell is said to be front-runner for the role of Sidney Prescott’s currently unnamed best friend, undoubtedly a sizeable part if the actress can land it.

However, our source was also quick to note that Russell’s involvement may not pan out due to scheduling. Although she’s being keenly eyed, Russell is contracted to Netflix’s hugely popular The Diplomat. Having produced two seasons in quick succession, the streaming service are keen to lock down their cast for a third. If Netflix are unable to accommodate Russell during Scream 7, she will likely have to bow out.

Secondly, we’ve heard whispers that M3GAN star Violet McGraw is the “prominent child star” said to be joining the project. McGraw will allegedly tackle the role of Sidney Prescott’s eldest daughter, said to be a substantial character.

These casting rumours come just weeks after we learned Halloween star Judy Greer was being sought for the project. Whilst no confirmation has been issued, we’re hearing Greer’s name is very much still attached to project.

It looks as though the cast for this untitled seventh entry could be one of the strongest we’ve had yet from the franchise. With Neve Campbell confirmed, and legacy cast members Courteney Cox and Patrick Dempsey thought to be attached, things are moving much faster than anticipated.

Although no date has been issued, Scream 7 is expected to shoot this summer for an unspecified 2025 release.
