Inspired by 80s sci-fi horror and contemporary surrealist cinema, Headware Games’ Chasing Static is set to release for the PC via Steam on October 14th. We’ve got a new trailer from the developer below, and it’s suitably atmospheric and strange!
Set in the untouched wilderness of rural Wales, the game sees players stepping into the shoes of Chris Selwood, who finds himself miles from any town in the dead of night during a fierce storm. Seeking refuge in a remote roadside café, Chris quickly experiences a horrific sight as he finds the waitress pinned to the ceiling by something with fierce, glowing eyes. He passes out, waking up to the dusty old abandoned remains of the café. How he must uncover the forgotten remains of a mysterious facility and try to piece together what happened to the missing villagers of Hearth.
A self-contained story with audio-driven gameplay mechanics and non-linear exploration, Chasing Static aims to capture the lo-fi feel of PS1 classics, while still delivering high-quality sound design and a modern approach. If you’re not a fan of PC gaming, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch versions are expected in 2022.
