Last week we brought you the news that low-budget horror maestro Charles Band has teamed up with Bone Tomahawk director S. Craig Zahler to reboot his cult Puppet Master series under the title Puppet Master: The Littlest Reich. This project however, has not materialised in place of Puppet Master: Axis Termination, which is still very much on the slate at Band’s Full Moon Features. Band recently took to the film’s Indiegogo page to bring us some updates.
“I’m announcing today the date for principal photography to begin on Puppet Master: Axis Termination will be: September 12th!”, Band revealed, following the announcement with a message to all those who contributed to the crowdfunding campaign: “All the perks which can be fulfilled now will go out in the next couple weeks. Some perks, such as posters and DVDs, will be shipped after the film is finished.”
Axis Termination is the eleventh and final entry in the Puppet Master series proper, and completes the trilogy that began with 2010’s Puppet Master: Axis of Evil. Band returns to the director’s chair to round off the series that began with the 1989 straight-to-video cult favourite.
Previously posted on the Indiegogo page was this synopsis:
In PUPPETMASTER XI – AXIS TERMINATION, the final chapter of the Puppet Master Saga, we find our heroic band of lethal puppets—BLADE, PINHEAD, TUNNELER, and LEECH WOMAN, joining forces with a secret team of Allied Operatives, all Masters of Psychic powers, as they face off together against a new bunch of evil Nazi adversaries and their collection of vicious Axis Puppets in a showdown that will decide the future of the free world!
Neither Axis Termination nor the reboot have release dates set, but it’s kinda nice that as one Puppet Master saga comes to a close, another is just beginning.
