Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the filmmaking duo behind Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Lego Movie, and 21 Jump Street and its sequel, are developing an as-yet-untitled monster movie for Universal Studios—and Channing Tatum is slated to star.
Described as a “modern-day, tongue-in-cheek thriller inspired by Universal’s classic monster legacy,” the film will be written by Wes Tooke, from an idea by Reid Carolin. According to Deadline, the project is a “bold genre reinvention of one of the studio’s most beloved characters from the Monsters Universe.”
Tatum previously worked with Lord and Miller on the Jump Street films. His other credits include Jupiter Ascending, The Hateful Eight, and Hail, Caesar!
