Isa Mazzei and Daniel Goldhaber, the duo behind the brilliant horror movie Cam, are on board to write and direct a fresh take on Faces of Death, the 1978 film infamous for featuring real footage of death (alongside plenty of staged scenes).
According to The Hollywood Reporter, “The new plot revolves around a female moderator of a YouTube-like website, whose job is to weed out offensive and violent content and who herself is recovering from a serious trauma, that stumbles across a group that is recreating the murders from the original film. But in the story primed for the digital age and age of online misinformation, the question faced is are the murders real or fake?”
Mazzei and Goldhaber conceived of the new story with Isabelle Link-Levy. Legendary Entertainment is behind the project and is reportedly hoping it will spawn a multi-film franchise, as the original film did.
