The first teaser trailer has been unleashed for the found footage shocker, The Gallows (originally titled Superstition) which will be making its way to UK cinemas this September 4. Joining the likes of Insidious and Sinister under the Blumhouse umbrella, this Warner Bros. release marks a return to the truly terrifying for New Line Cinema.
Shot on a microbudget by first time scribes/directors Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, the film caught Blumhouse’s attention when the duo found a way to shoot their film “outside the system.” Whilst Jason Blum admits the found footage genre has been churning out some pretty vapid efforts of late, particularly as “scary movies feature people in jeopardy, and people in jeopardy don’t tend to hold their cameras.” the exercised producer is confident that Lofing and Cluff have “found a way to make that feel organic.”
The film stars Cassidy Gifford (God’s Not Dead), Ryan Shoos (As Night Comes), Reese Mishler and Pfeifer Brown and releases in the US on July 10 before reaching UK shores slightly later, on September 4. We’ll leave you with the aforementioned teaser trailer:
