With the release of Adam Wingard’s ridiculously anticipated Blair Witch speedily approaching, Lionsgate has put out the first two TV spots to reacquaint us with the legend.
The film, which fooled us all with its original title of The Woods, is a direct sequel to the 1999 indie smash, and will take us back into the cursed woods of Blair, Maryland. Wingard directs the film from a script by his longtime collaborator Simon Barrett, with Keith Calder (You’re Next, The Guest), Roy Lee (The Strangers, It), Steven Schneider (Insidious, The Lords of Salem) and Jessica Wu (You’re Next, The Guest) producing.
Blair Witch stars James Allen McCune (The Walking Dead), Callie Hernandez (Alien: Covenant), Valorie Curry (TV’s The Following), Corbin Reid, and Wes Robinson.
Synopsis:
A group of college students venture into the Black Hills Forest in Maryland to uncover the mysteries surrounding the disappearance of James’ sister, who many believe is connected to the legend of the Blair Witch. At first the group is hopeful, especially when a pair of locals offer to act as guides through the dark and winding woods, but as the endless night wears on, the group is visited by a menacing presence. Slowly, they begin to realise the legend is all too real and more sinister than they could have imagined.
Blair Witch is released in the UK on September 15th, and a day later in the US. And good Christ, I’m excited.
