“BLACK PHONE 2” CROSSES $100M AT THE GLOBAL BOX-OFFICE IN WIN FOR BLUMHOUSE

Posted on: November 12th, 2025

In a much-needed boost for Blumhouse Productions, Scott Derrickson’s Black Phone 2 has hit a major milestone.

The production company has had quite a tough time of late, with none of their 2025 releases performing at the box-office.

There seemed to be a glimmer of hope on October 17th, when Scott Derrickson’s sequel Black Phone 2 topped the box-office, and became the first Blumhouse release in almost two years to overperform.

Hopes were high that the film would hold strong, and finally bring a tidy profit for the studio.

Well, everyone involved can breathe a huge sigh of relief, as Black Phone 2 has crossed the pivotal $100 million mark at the worldwide box-office. This is a marker of major success and popularity, particularly in genre cinema. On a reasonable budget of $30 million, Black Phone 2 will see Blumhouse finally turn a profit in 2025.

Not only has the film earned horror blockbuster status, but Black Phone 2 also managed to rise to the top of the box-office again during its third week.

Despite initial estimates suggesting newcomer Regretting You would take the weekend, the Halloween holiday provided an extra push for scary content, and Black Phone 2 finished in first place.

Currently sitting at a healthy $105 million worldwide, Black Phone 2 seems to have broken a string of bad luck for Blumhouse. Undoubtedly, the studio is relieved, but eager for the trend to continue. With their next release being the highly-anticipated sequel Five Nights at Freddy’s 2, it’s likely safe to assume that history will repeat itself.

But, will a positive end to the year spell more good fortune for Blumhouse in 2026? Or will they continue to struggle to engage with audiences? We’ll keep an eye on what the future may hold.
