Having picked up Justin Lee’s Big Legend, Vega Baby Releasing has entered into a multi-picture deal with the writer-director’s production house Papa Octopus Productions. The deal will see Vega Baby release five fully funded features in North America through their worldwide output deal with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment. The first film will reportedly be a hardboiled action/noir titled Heavy, which is scheduled to move into production this summer.
Big Legend meanwhile, will receive a multi-platform release in the summer through Vega Baby. It stars A Nightmare on Elm Street favourite Amanda Wyss, who is enjoying a real horror revival of late.
Synopsis:
The film follows an ex-soldier named Tyler who ventures out into the Pacific Northwest wilderness in hopes of finding answers to the disappearance of his fiance. After a series of strange and violent occurrences, Tyler finds himself relying on a mysterious poacher who just might have the answers he is looking for.
Also starring in the film are Kevin Makely (TV’s The Cavanaughs), Summer Spiro (If Looks Could Kill) and Todd A. Robinson (All Hell Breaks Loose). It was written and directed by Lee, and shot last year in Washington State.
