BBC Three has ordered a new eight-part horror series to be written by Michael and Paul Clarkson (The Haunting of Hill House). Titled Red Rose, the series will explore the precarious relationship teenagers have with their online lives.
The plot sounds pretty intriguing. After finishing their GCSE exams, a group of teenagers are spending their summer aimlessly hanging around the Bolton moors when they hear an urban legend about the Red Rose app. Rumour has it, the app encourages teens to take on an increasingly dangerous series of challenges (sound familiar?). But when one of the teens, Rochelle Jackson, downloads the strange app, she triggers a disturbing series of events that leave the friends facing down a seemingly supernatural entity.
Red Rose is a co-production between The Enfield Poltergeist producer Eleven Film and eOne for BBC Three.
