Strap on your life jacket for an Amazon River hell cruise teeming with prehistoric nightmares, modern pirates, ancient aliens, and ageless mysticism—that’s the blurb for William Burke’s latest horror thrill-ride, Primeval Waters, published by Severed Press. And, according to the critics, it lives up to the hype.
“Primeval Waters represents horror/thriller adventure writing at its best … packed with unexpected twists and turns. Pirates, kidnappers, ancient monsters and cannibals, oh my! Edge-of-your-seat reading that grips with an introductory mystery and doesn’t let go.” (D. Donovan, Senior Reviewer, Midwest Book Review).
“Burke plunges readers into a layered world of mayhem and ancient mysteries… The expert combination of immersive storytelling, strong characters, and well-woven mixture of high tech and speculative prehistoric elements makes for an unforgettable experience. Primeval Waters deserves a big screen adaptation” (The Prairies Book Review).
“William Burke delivers the whole horror package with Primeval Waters” (Tammy Ruggles, Readers’ Favorite).
“A riveting, fast-paced book that incorporates horror aspects into a wonderfully created and highly imaginative world… It’s dark at times in the best way. This is a great piece of writing with so much to offer!” (Novel News Network).
As an author, Burke has dedicated himself to giving readers a unique, adrenaline-fueled blend of horror, action and adventure. Writing in the horror genre comes naturally to someone born into a family of UFO-worshipping professional psychics.
According to Burke, “Our house was packed with hundreds of proto new-age devotees, all into Oujia boards, angels and aliens. It wasn’t a cult per se, but even as a kid I knew it wasn’t normal. Feeling like a stranger in my own home, I retreated into a private world of comic books, Famous Monsters magazines and late-night horror movies.”
Eventually he put those childhood obsessions to good use. After serving four years in the military, he produced a whirlwind of B-movies and Cinemax After-Dark shows. All those formative years surrounded by UFOs and the occult really paid off when he created and directed the Destination America paranormal series Hauntings & Horrors.
In addition to writing novels, Burke has contributed to Fangoria, Horrornews, and Videoscope. He dwells in Toronto, in the last house on a dead-end street.
Primeval Waters is available on Amazon in paperback and kindle.
