After experiencing quite the success bringing 2009’s Friday the 13th remake to 4K, Arrow Video have decided to stick with the legendary franchise.
Keeping it in the family, Arrow have decided to bring the rest of New Line Cinema’s Friday offerings to UHD.
1993’s Jason Goes to Hell, although not a huge success upon release, has garnered a sizeable following over time.
As usual, Arrow have pulled out all the stops with their double disc presentation. Not only will Jason Goes to Hell feature both the rated and unrated cuts, but the set will be loaded with extras.
The set will include:
Disc 1 – Theatrical Cut:
• Introduction to the film by director Adam Marcus
• Faces of Death, a new interview with special makeup effects creator Robert Kurtzman
• Undercover Angel, a new interview with actor Julie Michaels
• Mixing it Up, a new interview with composer Harry Manfredini
• The Gates of Hell, an archival interview with director Adam Marcus
• Jason vs. Terminator, director Adam Marcus on growing up with the Cunninghams
• Über-Jason, an archival interview with Kane Hodder on playing Jason
• Additional TV footage, with optional commentary by director Adam Marcus
• Theatrical trailer and TV spots
• Still, behind-the-scenes and poster galleries
Disc 2 – Unrated Cut:
• New audio commentary with film historians Michael Felsher and Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton
• Archival audio commentary with director Adam Marcus and author Peter Bracke
• Archival audio commentary with director Adam Marcus and screenwriter Dean Lorey
Also included is a collector’s edition booklet, reversible artwork, and a fold-out poster.
Arrow have gone to equally impressive lengths for the 2002 sequel Jason X. Just like Jason Goes to Hell, the space-set slasher was derided upon release, but has since garnered a devoted fanbase as a campy cult-classic.
Jason X’s single disc 4K UHD set will include:
• Introduction to the film by actor Kane Hodder
• New audio commentary with film historians Michael Felsher and Steve “Uncle Creepy” Barton
• Archival audio commentary with writer Todd Farmer and author Peter Bracke
• Archival audio commentary with director Jim Isaac, writer Todd Farmer and producer Noel Cunningham
• Scoring the Stars, a new interview with composer Harry Manfredini
• Outta Space: The Making of Jason X, an archival documentary on the making of the film featuring interviews with producers Noel Cunningham and Sean S. Cunningham, actor Kane Hodder and writer Todd Farmer
• In Space No One Can Hear You Scream, an archival interview with writer Todd Farmer
• Kristi Is a Headbanger, an archival interview with actor Kristi Angus
• Jason Rebooted, Sean S. Cunningham on Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X
• The Many Lives of Jason Voorhees, an archival documentary on the history of the character
• By Any Means Necessary: The Making of Jason X, archival making-of documentary
• Cast and crew interviews
• Behind-the-scenes footage
• Electronic Press Kit
• Theatrical trailers and TV spots
• Still, behind-the-scenes and poster galleries
As with Jason Goes to Hell, Jason X will also include a collector’s edition booklet, a reversible cover, and a fold-out poster.
Well, it looks like Arrow have outdone themselves again. Will we see more Friday the 13th releases from them soon? We hope so!
Jason Goes to Hell and Jason X are available for pre-order now, and will officially release on May 20th 2025.
