Although Christmas is just around the corner, Arrow Video fans are undoubtedly counting down the days to February 2025, as the company adds two more titles to their growing 4K slate.
First up, we have Alfred Sole’s 1976 proto-slasher classic Alice Sweet Alice, making it’s 4K debut. The movie follows the Spages family, who tragically lose their daughter to a murder during her first communion. As more killings soon follow, they begin to suspect their oldest daughter Alice may be the culprit.
Tackling heavy themes including religious fanaticism and the loss of a child, Alice Sweet Alice has grown a fiercely loyal following over it’s 48-year existence, and will undoubtedly be a huge hit for the company on 4K.
The set will include brand-new interviews with newly located cast members, as well as a limited-edition booklet, a poster, and all previous extra material from past home media releases.
Alice Sweet Alice will release on February 11th 2025.
However, Arrow aren’t done there! No, as they’ve also chosen February to release William Friedkin’s controversial classic thriller Cruising on 4K.
Starring Al Pacino, the film details a serial killer targeting gay men in early eighties New York City. Pacino plays a hardened cop forced to go undercover as a gay man to track the criminal down. Not only is he risking his life, but confronting a culture entirely alien to him that soon opens his eyes.
Upon its 1980 release, Cruising set off a blaze of controversy amongst the burgeoning LGBT community in America. Many believed the film’s portrayal of homosexuality and sexual experimentation wasn’t flattering.
Despite this, the tense thriller has gone on to attain classic status, eventually being embraced by the community for capturing a snapshot in time.
In the extras-laden 2-disc 4K set, you will find a plethora of behind-the-scenes material, as well as articles and featurettes examining and praising Cruising’s cultural significance.
This limited-edition box, featuring a collectable poster and a booklet featuring period news clippings, will release on February 25th 2025.
Both items will likely sell fast, so, pre-order yours now from Arrow Video’s official website.
Happy viewing!
