One of the most talked-about recent horror arrivals, all-female anthology XX is due to hit home video in May through Magnet Releasing.
XX consists of four segments, each shot by a female director and centring on female characters. Karyn Kusama (Jennifer’s Body, The Invitation) directs Her Only Living Son; Roxanne Benjamin (Southbound) gives us Don’t Fall; acclaimed musician Annie Clark AKA St. Vincent shot The Birthday Party; and hotly tipped filmmaker Jovanka Vuckovic’s segment is an adaptation of Jack Ketchum’s story The Box. The wraparound was created by award-winning animator Sofia Carrillo (La Casa Triste).
Starring across the four tales are Natalie Brown (Saw V), Melanie Lynskey (Detroit Rock City, Heavenly Creatures), Angela Trumbur (The Final Girls), Peyton Kennedy (The Captive), Peter DaCunha (Hellions), Mike Doyle (Kusama’s The Invitation) and Christina Kirk (Taking Woodstock).
XX, which premiered in January at Sundance, lands on UK DVD May 8th, with the US Blu-ray to follow on May 23rd.
