Anthony Hemingway will be directing the pilot episode of the upcoming spinoff series of The Purge. Hemingway has directed episodes of American Horror Story and CSI: New York, which provides a great basis for tackling the crime-horror The Purge.
The Purge series will be set during the other 364 days of the year, so don’t expect any literal Purge actions. It’s an interesting and refreshing idea that will breathe life into The Purge, which has a third sequel planned in The First Purge later this year with director Gerard McMurray.
Expect the series to land around the same time as The First Purge. 10 episodes are currently planned and the series will hit the Syfy channel. The cast, so far, includes Amanda Warren, Colin Woodell, Gabriel Chavarria and Jessica Garza. Director of The Purge 1-3, James DeMonaco, will oversee the series.
