Annabelle will officially become the star of The Conjuring franchise, launched in 2013, when Annabelle 3 arrives in US Theaters sometime during the Summer of 2019. This will be the diminutive devil doll’s fourth film since stealing the show in the series very first instalment (where she was merely used as a plot motivator). Though her first spinoff, 2014’s Annabelle, left much to be desired, last year’s Annabelle: Creation was a knock-out, appearing on many genre Top 10 lists.
Annabelle 3 will be something of a return to the basics; in addition to the doll, the film will also see the return of Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson as demonologists Loraine and Ed Warren. Though an official synopsis has yet to be revealed, we’ve been told that much of the film will take place in the Warren’s “Haunted Museum” (the room in their house where they store all the cursed objects from their cases).
We’re getting word today that Annabelle 3 will begin filming in Los Angeles this October. Gary Dauberman is directing from a script he co-wrote with franchise mastermind James Wan. We don’t have any additional information at this time, but we’ll keep our ears to the ground in order to bring you additional details as they emerge. Stay tuned!
In the meantime, you can check out the trailer for 2017’s Annabelle: Creation below.
Former toy maker Sam Mullins and his wife, Esther, are happy to welcome a nun and six orphaned girls into their California farmhouse. Years earlier, the couple’s 7-year-old daughter Annabelle died in a tragic car accident. Terror soon strikes when one child sneaks into a forbidden room and finds a seemingly innocent doll that appears to have a life of its own.
Annabelle: Creation is directed by David F. Sandberg and stars Anthony LaPaglia, Samara Lee, and Miranda Otto.
