The sequel to last year’s horror hit is set to hit cinemas on 19th May 2017 courtesy of Warner Bros, making it another horror film set for a summer release. In 2013 The Conjuring proved that horror has a happy home during the hot weather when it raked in a massive $318 million at the worldwide box office. On a quite measly budget of $20 million this was jaw-dropping and fantastic news for the genre.
John R. Leonetti’s Annabelle was, in our opinion, mediocre but it didn’t fail to bring in audiences. Thus, here we are, with a sequel in the works. The more horror the better, so we’re certainly not going to complain. We do hope that the sequel will improve on the scares and storyline of its predecessor and reach the heights of The Conjuring, because that is a wonderful modern horror tale.
There is no confirmed director, cast or storyline as of yet, but rumours have circulated that suggest David F. Sandberg (Lights Out) may be taking the reins. This, however, is unconfirmed, so be sure to watch this space.
