Corey Hawkins (The Walking Dead, Kong: Skull Island) is set to star in The Last Voyage of the Demeter, a new horror movie from director André Øvredal (Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, The Autopsy of Jane Doe) and Amblin Partners.
The film, which is based on a single chapter from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula, will centre around a Russian schooner called the Demeter that is chartered to carry 24 unmarked wooden crates from Carpathia to London. When the ship finally arrives near Whitby Harbour, it’s a derelict, and the crew have vanished. What strange events befell them on that doomed voyage… and what terrifying presence stalked them by night?
Zak Olkewicz (Bullet Train) wrote the latest version of the script, which was originally penned by Bragi F. Schut (Escape Room). Mike Medavoy, Brad Fischer, and Arnold Messer are producing.
