The Anaconda franchise was not one genre fans had earmarked for a modern reboot.
However, not only are we getting a modern reboot, we’re getting a meta-comedy-action sequel!
And now, according to the MPA official rating, we know just what to expect.
According to their official website, the MPA has rated Anaconda PG-13 for:
“violence/action, strong language, some drug use and suggestive references.”
Seems right on par with the buddy-action hijinks we’ve witnessed in the trailer, although rather far removed from the straight-forward horror of the 1997 original.
Anaconda stars Jack Black, Paul Rudd, Steve Zahn, and Thandiwe Newton, and details:
“Best friends Doug and Griff have always dreamed of remaking their all-time favourite movie: the cinematic classic, Anaconda. But things get real when an actual giant anaconda appears, turning their comically chaotic movie set into a deadly situation. The movie they’re dying to make? It might just get them killed.”
The film is set to hit screens on December 25th 2025, and we’re curious to see if audiences are ready for a movie that’s so tonally different from its source material.
