“ALIEN: ROMULUS” IS THE OFFICIAL TITLE OF FEDE ALVAREZ’S UPCOMING SEQUEL

Posted on: February 15th, 2024

In news that is likely to surprise no one, Fede Alvarez’s upcoming Alien instalment has been officially given the title Alien: Romulus.

Why isn’t this a surprise? Well, because the media have been running with the title for months, despite the writer-director issuing a statement that he hadn’t yet settled on an official title.

However, there we have it, folks! Alien: Romulus will be the series’ official ninth entry.

This news comes just as Romulus’ star Cailee Spaeny sheds some light on just when this “stand-alone” entry takes place.

“It’s supposed to slot in between the first movie and the second movie,” the actress explained, before revealing the lengths Alvarez went to in getting his Alien movie to look authentic. “They brought the same team from Aliens, the James Cameron film. The same people who built those xenomorphs actually came on and built ours. So getting to see the original design with the original people who have been working on these films for 45-plus years and has been so much of their life has been really incredible.”

Whilst Spaeny’s words are sure to excite fans, they still offer precious little in terms of plot details. So far, Romulus is described as “focusing on a group of young people on a distant world,” in an official logline.

So, with secrecy still of paramount importance, it looks like we’re just going to have to sit tight and wait for the promo campaign to begin.

Alien: Romulus is set to release on August 16th 2024 to theatres worldwide, after originally being conceived as a Hulu-Original film.

We’ll report any further details as they come in.
