It’s always a dicey decision for an established horror property to make the leap into television. Over the years we’ve seen many franchises fail on the small screen, including Scream, Friday the 13th, and The Exorcist.
So, when Alien was announced as the latest in the line to move to television, fans of the legendary franchise held their breath.
Now, it seems we can all breathe a welcome sigh of relief!
Alien: Earth premiered on August 12th with a double episode, and has seemingly continued the new wave of success started by Alien: Romulus.
Episodes One and Two of Alien: Earth received critical acclaim, garnering an impressive 92% for the show on Rotten Tomatoes.
In particular, critics have praised the scale of the show, commenting that the cost-cutting measures taken during production aren’t reflected on screen. Praise has also been given to the performances, the writing, the attention to detail, and the special effects.
Similarly, fans have likewise embraced Alien: Earth, with some calling it one of the best television adaptions to come of an established genre property.
Hulu and FX couldn’t have hoped for a better debut, so hopefully the series’ quality remains consistent, and Alien: Earth keeps this positive momentum.
Alien: Earth currently airs Tuesdays on FX, with episodes available to stream immediately afterward on Hulu. Internationally, the series can be viewed on Disney+.
With six episodes left to go, the double episode premiere may have already secured the show a second season.
