After moving into Saw XI’s slated release date and getting an intriguing trailer, things seemed all set for Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go.
The Halle Berry vehicle was set to release on September 27th 2024, however, somewhat unexpectedly, the date has been changed with a little over a month’s notice. Now, Never Let Go is slated to debut one week earlier on September 20th, although no reason for the change has been given.
Never Let Go will see Berry star as the mother of twin sons. The film will detail their fight against an “evil force,” and how they must remain physically tethered together to survive its assaults.
Seeming to take many cues from A Quiet Place, the film appears to be Lionsgate’s attempt at capturing the dystopian style of horror that’s popular at the moment.
However, the new release date seems to unwittingly put Lionsgate in competition with… themselves, as their supernatural horror The Bag Man is also set for a September 20th debut.
What is behind this rather sudden, and strange move? Could Lionsgate be in a state of panic following the sizeable failure of Borderlands? If that’s so, why would they potentially sabotage one of their films with another? It’s all very strange indeed.
We’ll keep an eye on this and report any further developments. Until then, why not give the trailer another look below:
