A striking trailed filled with grotesque and beautiful imagery has been released for A Cure for Wellness, the latest thrilling feature from director Gore Verbinski. We’re excited to see the director tread back into a world of psychological horror, because he did a great job with his last effort The Ring.
The story follows a young man who is tasked with bringing back a company’s CEO after he checks in to a “wellness centre”. Once there, he realises that something strange is going on and is forced to accept that he is sick, the only cure being available at this mysterious establishment.
We’ve been waiting for a plot-lead trailer for a few weeks now, so we’re glad that we are finally able to feast our eyes on one. The trailer is excellent, giving us a detailed look in to the unnerving wellness centre, where disturbing behaviours are being carried out by the staff and patients alike. It certainly has a few similarities in tone to Shutter Island and the Wayward Pines series, but we’re hoping that the futuristic science element will steer far away from any dangerously close comparisons.
A Cure for Wellness stars Dane DeHaan, Jason Isaacs and Mia Goth and will be released on 17th February 2017 in the USA and 24th March 2017 in the UK.
